just eight miles from Grand
Marais, we are situated to easily access all of the wonderful
outdoor activities northeastern Minnesota boasts about. We have
our own dock and boat launch for easy access to the lake and all
of it recreational opportunites. Kayaks and canoes are available
free to guests and fishing boat rental also avialable. There is
easy access to the many other excellent fishing lakes, Boundary
Waters Canoe Area and Superior
Hiking Trail System. We are the closest lodging on the Gunflint
Trail to Gunflint
Hills Golf Course- a mere 4 miles away, or you can take the
scenic thirty minute drive to Superior
National Golf Course with it’s famed 17th hole.

Grand Marais
Ten minutes away to Grand
Marais with all it’s excellent shopping and dining, spend
the day exploring the beautiful harbor village. Browse through art
galleries, or take a class at the North
House Folk School from French Cooking to Building your own Snowshoes.
Spend sometime enjoying Lake Superior- charter a boat, take a ferry
to Isle
Royale, skip rocks, search for agates or just enjoy the tranquil
waves splashing against the shore.
Gunflint Trail
Continue up the Gunflint
Trail to explore the serenity of the Northwoods. Take an afternoon
and look for moose- the swampy areas abound up the Gunflint are
haven for moose. Hike the Superior Hiking Trail or the abundance
of scenic old logging roads to truly appreciate the beauty of the
northshore.
North of the Border
One 90 minutes up the northshore- you’ll find your self in
Thunder
Bay. Enjoy the unique offerings of this area- look for amethyst
in one of the mines, experience the fur trade days at Old
Fort William. Visit the Gammondale
Farms or Belluz Farms for fresh vegetables and hayrides or Thunder
Oak Cheese Farm and learn the cheese making process. Most of our
guests plan a day to experience Canada- it’s so close you
can make a day trip of it.
Lutsen Mountains
Just thirty minutes away you can enjoy one of the many amenities
at Lutsen Mountains. Take
the Gondola ride to the top of Moose mountain- a beautiful scenic
trip. Ride the Alpine slide- fun for the whole family. Enjoy golf?
The Superior National
Championship Golf Course has spectacular views of land and sea,
rippling rivers and shear cliffs.
The Northshore is winter heaven,
with beautiful pine forests and crystal lakes this is one of the
most beautiful winter wonderlands you could witness. Recreation
abounds in the scenic beauty of the Northshore, Devil Track Resort
is at the hub of all winter recreation. Only minutes from Grand
Marais, take the day off from the elements and enjoy shopping or
browsing the galleries and specialty shops.
Snowmobilers- from the lodge take
off on the North Shore Trail System, just outside your door to some
of the best snowmobile
trails anywhere. Park and Ride. Plenty of parking makes this
a perfect place to hit the trails!
Cross Counrty Skiiers- only minutes
away from Pincussion
Mountain where you can enjoy groomed trails both day and night.
Want a really romantic evening? Have an early dinner and then hit
the trails by moonlight.
Downhill Skiiers- thirty minutes
away you’ll find Lutsen
Mountains with some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the
Midwest.
